New Debate Strategy: Trump and Harris Get Personal Mute Buttons

In an unprecedented twist to this election cycle, the latest debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris introduced a brand-new feature: personal mute buttons. Trump, who immediately took credit for the idea—whether or not he had anything to do with it—claimed it was "the best idea anyone's ever had, believe me."

The debate started off predictably enough, with Harris delivering a calm, measured statement about economic policy before Trump gleefully hit his mute button, saying, "No one wants to hear more of that, believe me, folks!" Harris raised an eyebrow and returned the favor during one of Trump’s familiar rants about "fake news." The silence that followed was described by audience members as “almost peaceful.”

Trump used his mute button so often that moderators had to reset it twice, after which Trump declared, “They don't want me using this, because I’m too good at it!" Harris, in turn, expertly timed her mutes, ensuring she cut off Trump right before the conclusion of his sentences, leaving viewers in a permanent state of suspense about whether or not “China is eating our lunch.”

Social media exploded with reactions, with #SilentTrump briefly trending before Trump’s team muted Twitter (now X) as well. Pundits declared the debate a “groundbreaking moment in political theater,” with some calling it "America's first debate to double as a game show."

Harris, when asked if she enjoyed the new feature, simply smiled and said, “I just wish we had this in 2020.”

Meanwhile, sources close to both campaigns indicate that the next debate may include taser buzzers and a dunk tank, “just to keep things fresh.”
